More information on the Aberlady Rally.
Tommy and Margaret McCraw have been busy organising what's going to be a great rally at Aberlady.
The nearest pub is the Aberlady Inn, about half a mile away. So most of us will be able to walk there. And stagger back. But for those who can't, Tommy's fixed up a couple of cars to ferry you to and from at no cost on the Friay night.
On the Saturday night, there's a minibus arranged for the Bowling Club. Cost is just £2 a head return. Pick up starts at 7pm. Return at 11pm.
There's a Sunday market about 6 miles away, and Tommy is finding out how much a minibus would cost for those who'd like to go. Watch this space for more details as they come in!
The rally booklet went out before we had confirmation of the dates of the Fish Festival 2012, so unfortunately the dates in the booklet are wrong.
Confirmed dates are now 17th to 21st August.
Irene Campbell put together three generously full hampers of Scottish food and
drink for the Help the Heroes raffle at the National. The contents of the hamper
came from several sources, including local companies Deans, Tunnochs and
Walkers , together with generous donations from Scottish Group members
themselves.
The response from the Kelso ralliers to our raffle was first class, with queues of
folk from all groups lining up to buy tickets. (The offer of a free biscuit to
buyers might have been part of the attraction and was well received, but we
like to think that mostly it was that people wanted to buy tickets for the Help
the Heroes cause.)
Scottish group volunteers worked hard to sell the tickets, all looking the part
and efficiently organised by Kath Shand. Some of those involved in this can
be seen in the photo below.
The outgoing MCC Chairman drew the winning tickets and the three winners
happily carried off their prizes. Just as happy were the folk at the Erskine, who
gratefully received the cheque for £470 to help them continue their good work.
The photo above shows the cheque being presented to 90 year old ex-RAF
veteran Joe Parker, a resident of the Erskine.
Congratulations to everyone involved - £470 is a great result from all the effort,
and the Erskine people were thrilled with the donation.
